Lectionary Readings and Prayers
First Reading: 2 Corinthians 9: 6-8
Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided
in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that
you need, you will abound in every good work.
Gospel Reading: Luke 6: 38
Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured
to you.”
Collect
Risen Christ, your wounds declare your love for the world and the wonder of your risen life: give us compassion and courage to risk ourselves for those we serve, to be
generous in love and mercy, that we may be signs of your kingdom now and for ever.
Post Communion
Lord, we pray that your grace may always precede and follow us, and make us continually to be given to all good works;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Other Notices:
We have banked a further £52 from collecting loose change, clothing, and donations for plants etc. Thank you.
The Mothers Union Afternoon Tea at Sheila’s on the 26th August was greatly attended.
Following donations, a total of £283.31 was received.
Thank you to all who helped and to all those who came. It was a great afternoon and we were blessed with the weather.
Blythswood Shoe Box Appeal:
We are still collecting for the Blythswood Shoe Box Appeal.
Lists of suggested contents are available at the front of the Church, or alternatively speak to Mary and Michelle.
Please leave shoe boxes (if possible, already wrapped in Christmas paper) and any donations under the table at St Cuthbert’s Church.
Thank you for your kindness and generosity in helping us bring a little Christmas joy to others – the boxes were so warmly received last year.
